Editorial policy

Northern Civic Report aims to make civic design and local infrastructure easier to understand. We use plain language, check factual statements before publication and make uncertainty clear rather than smoothing it over.

Accuracy and context

We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable sources before publishing. Articles explain the scope of their claims and avoid treating a general design principle as a rule that applies everywhere. Where a topic depends on local conditions or official decisions, we say so and direct readers to the relevant authority rather than guessing.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are separate from commercial arrangements. Partner or sponsored material is clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee a favourable mention, and paid placement does not determine editorial conclusions.

Corrections

If a published passage is inaccurate or materially unclear, we review the point and correct it when warranted. Readers can send a correction request through the Contact page, identifying the article and the passage in question. We aim to make significant changes visible in the article.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be AI-generated. Illustrative images are not documentary evidence, and we do not present them as photographs of a real place or event.
